All things Ryan
Tue Jul 10, 2012 10:46 am
It was announced today that the US Army pulled out of NASCAR sponsorship.
I hope SHR has a plan to replace them. The Army had a wonderful partner in SHR and I think Ryan did a great job representing our heroes. They will be missed.

well the writing is on the wall, doubtful he will be back, ryan did a great job in his role as ambassador for the army, but the army was cutting races after year one, 26, 22,14 so it was only a matter of time til they pulled out.
i just hope this doesnt turn into a presidential thing, when its a government thing... in fact leave all politics out

Welllllll, I guess we can "thank" that Congressb*tch from Minnesota. And "good ol' boy" Jackson Kingston of Georgia. They want the 80 million dollars spent on advertising and sponsorship cut from the budget......WHY??......are they planning ANOTHER Congressional pay increase??
Nobody can blame either political party more than the other, McCollum is a Democrat and Kingston is a Republican.
As far as I'm concerned, the military and NASCAR are a GREAT combination. Marketing to "Grass roots" America has ALWAYS been a good way to sell a product and reap great returns from that market. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how far the enlistments drop off. Not only is this going to affect NASCAR, but, NHRA and if I read this correctly, ALL forms of motorsports.

I really hope they are able to keep Ryan and get some sponsorship. Sucks the Army isn't coming back.
Maybe Kenseth is coming to SHR.

A friend of mine's son tried to enlist a few months ago but he had too much "ink". Fact is, since they're bringing so many soldiers home, they are being very picky. The recruiting officer said they're having problems finding places for all of them. Bottom line, with the economy like it is, should they really be putting that money into sports? Sorry, but I think there are better places to spend that money, like the VA hospitals and such. It sucks for Ryan, but think of what 80 million could do for the returning vets, especially medically. And yes, I know the government squanders tons of money every year.

Yes it sucks that the Army is pulling out but there are few other sponsorships out there and hopefully they can land one or two of those. I do know one of the others out there is Bass Pro Shops so I guess we will have to wait and see. At least the Army gave them some notice.

Well there is Aspen Dental, Outback steakhouse, quicken loans and Haas always picks up a few races. So a sponsorship package could come out of there. One of the first three companies I mentioned will have to step up and become a primary sponsor though.
As for Bass Pro, they are with Jamie at Ganassi. And Ganassi rarely loses sponsors to other teams (Target). Though Bass could sponsor a race here and there (they were on the 39 at Talladega). But they also sponsor a truck fulltime and have a few races in the nationwide series.
It will be interesting to see how this works out. If Ryan will be here at all next year.

Gluck's updated his story with a quote from the crazy old ####
Congresswoman Betty McCollum (D-Minn.), who had co-sponsored legislation with a Republican Congressman to ban military spending at NASCAR events, praised the Army's decision to cut back.
"By ending its sponsorship of NASCAR, the Army made the right move to eliminate a wasteful program and protect taxpayer dollars – which has been my goal all along," McCollum said. "Congress is facing a very difficult budget environment, and I want taxpayer dollars protected – even at the Pentagon.
"I applaud the Army's decision to terminate its funding of NASCAR. The Army now joins the Navy and Marine Corps in terminating its NASCAR partnership."

Because Ryan does so much for animals, I could see him with a Dog and/or Cat food company sponsorship...Maybe a few more Haas CNC.....Ritz....Oreo Cookies...maybe KFC or Pizza Hut...Smuckers...Walmart....Apple.....Amazon....
To say this is not political, is like burying your head in the sand. Our economy is tanking.....

Do you think Ryan is going to stay with SHR?? I sure hope so!

Yeah and Austin is from Missouri and they are sponsoring him fulltime in the nationwide series too so that is why they will go with him. Oh wait...

Well folks. We are almost 16 trillion dollars in debt here in the good old USA. Over 5 trillion added by this current administration and their not done. It doesn't surprise me at all loosing U.S. Army!

That money comes from us tax payers!
I have no clue about Newman's future with S/H Racing? He could retire quit comfortably but he's way to young for that!
Have to wait and see!

I think the Army should pull out of Afghanistan. That would save a lot of money.

I think we should pull ALL OF OUR TROOPS from around the world, seal OUR borders and let the rest of the world kill each other off and collect the spoils. I've served and have EVERY RIGHT to think this way. GEEEEEZ, if we were to do that......we could have 3/4 car teams sponsored by every branch of the military
