POST "MONSTER MILE"

Well we saw about everything in this race. :?

Newman hits some pit crew members and has to serve a penalty drive through. Was lap/laps down several times.

Finishes P15! :D

Your opinion about this race............. :D

####,i was surprised he finished second-see what happens next week. Running second to the #48 team is a big improvement, but i don't get excited much over one race considering how poor they've been running the first half the season. This is however a sign of things to come with Shane as c/c as i had expected or hoped it would, then i'll get excited. Other than maybe Jeff Gordon,i don't think anyone had anything for JJ.

Re: POST "MONSTER MILE"

Ryan fell off big time after the first caution. To be able to get back on the lead lap and finish 15th, good day over all.

Re: POST "MONSTER MILE"

If my guy finishes 15th, struggles to stay on the lead lap and doesn't even come close to leading a lap I don't call it a good day at all.

Ditto Doc! Performance wise was same ol same ol. I'll take the top 15 finish, but top 5 woulda been better. Considering that is where he started.

Hey Doc!

I sort of compare Newman's performances to Tony's each race just to see collectively as a race company just how close each one is to the other. They often share racing notes(suspension set ups etc.)But, since "Smoke" got wrecked, I couldn't do that this particular race.

Watching Newman slowly get passed by car after car has become his MO for some time now unfortunately. I use to think he was under powered like his car tuner had his engines set up for more gas mileage rather than more just bulk horse power? Now, I'm lost about that theory? :?

I guess I will never figure out Team #39. I guess I will just have to accept them on a race to race basis and hope as a team they will improve! :D

Re: POST "MONSTER MILE"

I was by no means ragging on Ryan.

I usually look at both teams performance on an individual basis and then on a company level as well. Personally, I don't think you have to look much further than the top of the pit box to see why team 39 struggles each week. I speak from having the benefit of "listening" in on their radio via the chat room here. Complete with voice inflections I might add.

Ryan Newman drives his butt off and gives great effort but it is not enough and it would pain me to be a Newman fan and to see him struggle is all I was trying to say.

Re: POST "MONSTER MILE"

Yesterday, when Tony was out of the race for the repair of his car, I listened on the scanner to Ryan. I don't know if it was the scanner or maybe sensoring, but there seemed to be no back and forth conversation between TG and Ryan. Ryan would say what was happening with his car and then there would be dead air space, not even 10-4. Is this usual? There was a lot of dead air space. I know that the scanners where not working well yesterday and it couldn't be because of bad language. The static was so bad on some of the channels, you could not hear anything. I have called and all they say is that THEY are working on it. Does Ryan ever make his own calls? Maybe that would help.
Usually with Steve or Darian they would ask how the last change was and then go from there. In listening to the different drivers not one of them, that I listened to, was happy with their car. Even Jimmie made a couple of calls on his car changes. Good calls = a great day. He won!

Re: POST "MONSTER MILE"

In my opinion. I think Newman is saying all the right things in order to secure confidence in his race team. He's not about to throw any one on his race team "under the bus." Saying how much he likes Tony Gibson is being politically correct. We will never know how he REALLY feels about his race teams situation! Ryan certainly can see the "writing on the racing wall" after so many years! ;)

Ryan was 21st a lap down late in the race. To comeback and finish 15th is good. I should have used a better choice of words. Overall it was disappointing because he started third and never contended. But to come back and finish 15th he was able to get a good finish out of day. I think anyone agrees to call 15th a bad finish when he ran 18th to 21st a lap down most of the day is a good thing.

I remember when I went to Pocono last year for the 2nd race. Tony was like 28th after the red flag. He came back to finish 11th. I was happy as #### with that because they salvaged a good finish.
