THE ALLSTAR RACE THIS SATURDAY!

I generally don't get all that excited about this "money only" race. But, it is a Nascar race none the less.

The very first one I watched was my very first Nascar party I was invited to way back in 2002. I showed up to this Nascar party in my Ryan Newman tee shirt and almost everyone there made fun of me. Newman was a rookie so that was understandable. Little did they know, I would have the very last laugh!

It was down to the very last lap between Dale Junior and Ryan and Dale did get Newman out of shape but Newman recovered and went on to take the checkered flag! That race propelled me into Ryan Newman mania. I was so proud from that moment on to be a Ryan Newman fan and still have that same exuberance as I did then! Only difference is now, I try not to take it all so seriously.

In my opinion the 2002 All Star Race(The last year of the named "The Winston")was the best so far!

I'm a late bloomer when it comes to Nascar! Didn't get involved until 2002. I'm old enough but just never payed any attention to it. Drag racing was more my taste late 60's-70's!

Wish I could of seen Davey and some of those old school races.......

I like the 2002 Allstar race the most.

Ryan had just gotten denied by Tony the race before. So he had to race his way into the show. He did by winning the open.

He starts dead last and this was back when they eliminated drivers. Ryan kept going. He had contact with Elliott Sadler, which resulted in Sadler throwing his helmet at Ryan. When Ryan got tot he lead there was no looking back. He would get such good restarts that NASCAR had to redo it because they felt that he was restarting too early. On the last restart Dale Earnhardt Jr was charging up and got to Ryan's bumper. He could have spun him out easy. But Jr had respect for Ryan perhaps remembering how he was a rookie winning the "Winston. Ryan held on to win it and another star was born.

That to be defined the All Star race perfectly.

But the 2009 All Star race was the happiest I've been afterwards. Seeing Smoke pass Kenseth with 2 to go and win it for the first time and with SHR was a treat.

I'll be there!! Best race ever! Loved 2009 winner! TONY! Hope he can do it again. my friend has his Old Spice towel from Victory Lane!

you would have liked davey, towards the end of his life he was snake bitten with amazing crashes, he was in contention to win the 92 cup, but crashed out the last race.

Personally,coming from a Dale Snr.fan,i liked the year Rusty Wallace knocked Big Mouth DW out of the way and won! That's the day i became a Rusty fan too,still today i can't stand DW and thou i was in the minority on that one,i still hold true to it! The pass in the grass was cool,but it wasn't actually a pass,just a great save,boy was Dale Snr. mad at Bill Elliott. The first race was good too,i'll agree, and the one bettween Kyle and Dale was equally good,i just never cared for any of the Allisons,but can't deny talent.

Rowdy Busch has the pole for tonight and Newman is "side pole!".........Yea I know, that means nothing but thought I would throw that out there.
