Re: What happened on pit road?
Ok, I want to state that I am in no way defending Kurt here but maybe it's because of my background I am seeing things differently in regards to all of this.
Since there are always he said, he said and the truth in the middle. The first reports of Kurt almost hitting 39 crew members and a NASCAR official came from TG over the radio to Ryan when he was asking for answers from TG who was silent(again) and when Ryan got upset TG said busy with crew members fighting with Kurt's guys. Ryan doesn't need this information when he is trying to get a better finish for the night and not lose more points in trying to make the chase. What Ryan needed was a CC who was paying attention to what the car looked like and relaying that information to the driver, not silence and then well I'm busy with guys fighting with Kurt's guys. To me that was a true indication of TG trying to deflect his inability to assess the car AND control his crew.
Now maybe it's the former teacher/school administrator and HR person in me but the first thing that I hear is TG deflecting his lack of doing his job to Kurt Busch and in the process is getting Ryan, who from the reports Schmoopy gave during the race was already not in a good mood, even more po'd. Sorry, but I have dealt with this deflection tactic many times - making something that might not have been very big huge to deflect from the fact that he was not doing his job and had no control over what was going on in the pits. Again, I go back to the fact that the first report of Kurt nearly hitting crew members and an official came from TG to reporters. To me more deflection.
Now much as I love Ryan as a driver, I think he was a bit out of line in his remarks about Kurt. It is not Ryan's place to rule someone as imbalanced or unstable.
As for the gas man, Andy Rueger, I think he got himself in deep with NASCAR because he was called to the hauler and then either did not report and went out to Kurt's car or did report and then went out to Kurt's car. Either way, he knew he was already in trouble with NASCAR and ignored the sanctioning body. I don't think he deliberately pushed an official, but he was already in trouble before that for not listening to NASCAR.
And to Kurt, he was hot headed definitely and I think he needs to consider taking time away from Cup. When you scream at your CC, "I hate my f$#@#*( job" it's time to take a hiatus. I don't know who the older guy in the blue shirt that was trying to block the camera person, but Finch needs to have that guys creditials pulled because it did not reflect well on his team.
I am not sure we as race fans will ever really know all that transpired since everything is now under "the NASCAR cone of silence" but to just blame one when others made their choices as well is kinda wrong too.
