Next time you wanna use the word mature..... Try puttin' an "N" where the "T" is. That's why your eyes are brown....right?

the whole wait and see theory is tough, because he could be at the top of the charts, then come race, falls back, kinda like Texas, i still think a stronger mined CC is the answer...............
Like I said, his race team has no identity as far as being good at a certain track. They can't repeat as a team at any particular race track.

You answered my question MJ. His practice/qualifying positions mean absolutely nothing in terms of race day. Even getting "the pole" means nothing. It's how you finish......PERIOD! :D

Newman's best CC's was Matt Borland/Roy Mac back in the day. Matt had a Chad Knaus mentality. Loved those grey areas. Got busted a few times. Then Roger lowered the boom on stretching those grey areas. You can't win 5 back to back Championships unless you are extremely good and lucky or can get away with what is termed.......cheating. Most call it grey areas.

I read some one posted how Newman likes Tony Gibson. Well duh, you know he's going to say that in an interview. Ryan would never openly throw his CC under the bus. That's what he's supposed to say folks. Now in private.......may be a different story? Newman knows he's being short changed but isn't willing to "rock the boat" so far. Like I have said a million times. Ryan has made countless millions running around in circles. He's just happy having a Nascar seat! ;)

I'm pretty sure I said in a post that Ryan likes TG. I'm not judging from any interviews, I'm judging from actions. They go fishing together all the time so I don't think you'd do that with someone you don't care for. And that's just my opinion...

Re: kansas

you couldnt handle all the positivity if your name was chad, and being known as a great crew chief, and being part of 8 sprint cup winning teams, hmmmm now i understand why people are so bitter (not you) cuz they could only dream of having someone that good on the team they like.

Hey, I'd take Chad any day of the week for the any of the SHR teams. I like Addington, but Chad is probably the most dedicated cc around. I saw a special one time that followed him for a bit. He absolutely lives NASCAR. I don't know if he's still single, but he was at that time due to the amount of time he works, not just at the shop, but at home also. WTH, cheating was born from NASCAR and it's only cheating if you get caught. If you're not trying to improve or find an advantage, you're not doing your job. If all you know is black and white, you're missing out on half of life.

Ok, the soapbox is now open for the next member...

Re: kansas

Hey Rochelle was that the 24/7 JJ series that you may have seen? i know on that show they spent a lot of time with chad and how it is all business with him, he does have a gf of 5 years, but she lives in chicago, well as of 2 years ago she did. i try to explain somethings about chad in the 48 love fest thread, but i was accused of overpowering people with my thoughts, when i was just trying to explain who chad is, it was cool to read that you get the whole idea of trying new things to make a car go faster and that he isnt a out right cheater. Just this week, i seen a picture of the new c-post template that nascar made because of the daytona car, where the car itself fit the template, just that nascar didnt like the look of the cpost (btw that car was raced in dega in 2011 with no fuss.)

it would be cool if speed or fox did a show that was just about the crew chiefs, so the fans got a better idea who that person is, they are many good guys like grubb, addington, jimmy fennig, etc..

Re: kansas

I think that's the show. He had been engaged but wasn't at the time of that show. One scene that sticks in my mind was in his kitchen with him on his laptop. They hinted that he was now single due to the amount of time he spent working, whether at the shop or at home. I have to admit that I didn't like the 48 team for a long time but, to be honest, I think I was jealous of their success. Not only were they very good, but also very lucky. You might not like it, but you have to admit they were brilliant for 5 years in a row. If anyone can find an advantage in any given situation, it's Chad and JJ. For an example, take the All-Star race, some people didn't like their strategy, but I thought it was excellent. Once he won the first leg, they rode around in the back staying out of trouble. Only Chad would have thought of that. And, following their lead, everyone else that won a leg of that race copied their strategy. I, for one, liked the race. Each leg stood on it's own and the racing was good. Never mind the guys riding around in the back, I looked at it as giving the other drivers a chance for a win in that segment. Anyway, short story long, over the last few years I've gained an appreciation for what the 48 team has done. In a word, it's historic. I do wish they'd start that program again though, it gives you a great insight into the teams.

As far as the C-post incident, I thought that was bs. They had raced that car before and it fit the template. I think that's why it was overturned on the appeal. He couldn't completely slap NASCAR in the face so he let the fine stand.

If you're not looking for an advantage, you're content with being mediocre.

I appreciate the way you stick up for Chad and JJ. I'm so tired of the "cheater" mentality. I am a Tony fan but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate other drivers or their success. It doesn't make you a more loyal fan of your driver to bash other drivers, it just shows how narrow minded you are. Of course there are drivers I don't like, but I feel they've earned my disdain by their actions. The elf is first in that category

Re: kansas

i agree, they had a lot of race luck the past few years, but i think you need that luck to win a championship. HMS has been very luck over the years having these strong crew chiefs in house, makes ya wonder if there is another one bein groomed. I know many would like to get ron malec ( the car chief) but he said he is very content where he is at, i remember that scene of chad eating dinner and reading off the computer, thats too bad if he did break up with his gf, he needs to take time for himself.

I like to talk about the 48 team, not in hopes i can convert people to like them, but to add some insight to who they are, i never came here and gloated about the success they had, unless someone felt the need to bash them and use that "cheater" tag, i always say its easier to say that, because it would justify the success, i know people need to vent and get their frustrations out on them, i get it and im cool with it, but when i read stupid comments like "just glad the 48 didnt win." its like is racing that bad to watch that all you can come up with is that? i think there are other drivers out there who dont deserve to win. i love racing, but i refuse to let it effect my emotions or ruin my weekend, ya i get that bummed out feeling if ryan or JJ have a bad run, but that will last for about 5 seconds, then i move on...

im kinda misunderstood here, im a big ryan fan, but many think im here to make fun of tony and thats not it at all, i have a ton of respect for what tony has done, but some look for the smallest thing to try and turn into me hating tony, sure i might be intense with my comments, but im like that with everything, i never mean anything by it, but i feel if your going to prove me wrong, your going to work at it, because where i can admit i am wrong, i dont like to,

hehe this started out as us talkin bout chad, but i felt like i needed to get that out... sorry if i bored ya.

haha, no, not boring at all. I think if people took a little time to get to know others in here, we might get along a little better. :D

i agree 100%, a couple years ago this site was very entertaining, we had all types of threads, now this site is judgmental, if you dont have the same views as others, your a troublemaker, and why have the same views?? the world is a boring place if we see things the same, you can have different views and still be civilized, i always say " im a reflection of the board" if you wanna talk to me and have a debate great! if you wanna go negative call me names and disrespect things i like, well i will do the same back, so that person will see how stupid it looks to do that, but lately the site chooses to disrespect, before getting to know the facts, but the ones that show mutual respect are awesome members, i met some very cool people and some i consider friends, we may not always agree on certain things about racing, but we look past that and enjoy each others company, share stories and laugh

That's how it's supposed to be. Agree to disagree and respect one another's right to their opinion. There's no reason to get snippy about anything. Frankly it just takes too much energy :D
