Special Paint Scheme at Charlotte

When the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series returns to Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend, Ryan Newman will be driving a car with a cause. The No. 39 Gene Haas Foundation/Cookies for Kids’ Cancer Chevrolet features a sweet-looking paint scheme that’s all about supporting pediatric cancer research. In addition, the Gene Haas Foundation is presenting a $25,000 donation to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer Founders Larry and Gretchen Witt at the track to raise awareness for pediatric cancer research. Here’s a sneak peek of Newman's "sweet" ride.

the sponsor is cool. I hate the paint scheme however. I still remember when Tony put a similar green on his car. Bad juju.

Yup, that was last year's "Old Spit Showtime" jaloppy.... piece of sh^t, I was there to suffer thru the whole race. Hopefully this green will do a little better. 8-)

Re: Special Paint Scheme at Charlotte

Glad you posted this June as I was thinking about starting a thread about this great car/cause. Kudos to Stewart Haas for backing such a wonderful charity as children's cancer. Now, Ryan just needs to bring even more attention to this important charity by showing it in the winner's circle. And I kind of like the big cookie car. :-)

Re: Special Paint Scheme at Charlotte

Considering Ryan was to run the Haas scheme again this weekend & no good finish has come with that scheme lately I am glad for the change up. I do like the scheme, think it's gonna look awesome under the lights Sat night! Although I had forgotten about the green on Tony's car last year. But that was Tony's car & that was last year, so maybe Ryan will have better luck? (Trying to be positive, LOL) ;)

Re: Special Paint Scheme at Charlotte

I don't like that shade of green at all. :( Didn't like it on Tony's car last season either. :(

But if Ryan wins this weekend, I could learn to like it. ;)

I'd be happy with a top 5 with the way he has been running lately if he can make that shade of green work for him.

Re: Special Paint Scheme at Charlotte

Well, it's not really SHR that's working with the cookie charity or putting the wrap on Ryan's car, it's the Gene Haas Foundation as far as I know??? I hope when Danica comes on board, there's room for everyone to shine in SHR. I would have liked to see Ryan do better this year but I just don't think he has been most of the problem. I am started to agree with everyone who is calling for a new CC. But I guess we have to blame SOMEONE! Just thought Ryan would have done better considering he's been keeping out of the wall and not getting caught up in the wrecks as he's prone to do. Doesn't it seem like there have been fewer wrecks this year overall, or is it just me?

And I did knock on wood during as I was typing those sentences about Ryan and wrecking.

Ryan does well on finishing races. I believe his 1st year with SHR he went the whole season without a DNF. The next year I think he had like 2 or there abouts & this year he has zero DNFs. He takes care of his cars.

Schmoop, Ryan did have a DNF in '09, Fall Talledega. I do believe that was his only DNF though.

Re: Special Paint Scheme at Charlotte

A little off topic:My apologies SoDakota June 39...........

Until Newman gets the proper support team and racing "good luck." His chances are very slim at winning a Championship. :(

I have waited many years to see this come about and I'm still waiting! ;)

This is nothing new to all of you guys. Just a little venting on a Wednesday, sorry. Ryan has made "millions" along the way. I guess that eases the pain at the end of a good/bad race day! ;)

Re: Special Paint Scheme at Charlotte

not sure I like the car....... could do w/out the baby s#!t green and the big brown circle on the hood, other than that it's ok looking. It's for a great cause though. I hope it drives better than his cars from the last three weeks have driven. Then I don't guess thats gonna happen as long as The Cookie Monster is sitting ontop of the 39 pitbox. Since they made the Chase it's as though T.G. just stopped doing his job because now he feels like his job is safe.
"He makes me look thinner" Tony on why he picked Ryan to be his team mate. bet he's gonna enjoy his fair share of Krissie's cookies every weekend lol

Re: Special Paint Scheme at Charlotte

Maybe they ought to get the Cookie Monster out there to clear the way for Ryan.
