POST MICHIGAN RACE

This is usually a Ford dominant track that saw a Toyota win.

Team #39 had some awesome pit stops followed by some awful ones? Need to tighten those pit stops boys! ;)

Newman was top 10 most of the day and finished 6TH! He's 8TH in points.

This breaks the usual trend of finishes at this track and I like it. :D

Has Matt Borland helped already with this team I wonder?

A top 10 finish is always good and has given me hope for this team. Nice work Team #39! :D

Your comments if any? :D

Re: POST MICHIGAN RACE

Congrats to Ryan & the entire #39 team for a great finish. :D

If Matt has some spare time, the #14 team needs some help. ;)

Re: POST MICHIGAN RACE

I disagree on the pit crew. They were flat out horrible, until the last stop. Now I guess if they were to have only one good stop that is the one to have it.
As far as the rest I agree. I will take a 6th for Ryan at Michigan.

You have an advantage S-1000 being able to listen to driver/crew chief chatter. I had that service for many earlier years with Newman. But, since I have to work EVERY Sunday, I dropped the service! :D

I assumed the pit stops were great because TNT listed Newman's pit crew as being the fastest? My bad. This can't continue if there that bad! :x

Loved seeing the 48 struggle...sorry MJ! Oh no, not six in a row please! ;) It won't matter anyway........

Re: POST MICHIGAN RACE

its all good, if he ends up winning just the 5 that is a big deal, i dunno if he will win this yr, and even tho i never brag on his success, if he doesnt win im sure people are gonna jump on me to try and get me mad, cuz that is how this website is, i love racing, i am a very supportive fan, but one thing i learned 20 some yrs ago, i dont let the outcome of a race or a season upset me, i appreciate the fact i get to see my fav drivers every weekend, because they wont be doing it forever, kenny schrader no longer in nascar, davey allison is gone, now there is JJ and ryan, it does frustrate me ryan is inconstant, but ya take the good with the bad and move on to next week in hopes things pick up............

For me it's just a friendly hate of the #48. You know, the hate you would have for the "very best" at any sport. I hate the Steeler's because I'm a Bengal's fan. Can you imagine how much fun "I'm not" having being a fan of Ryan Newman and the Cincinnati Bengal's in the last 5 years......it's been brutal! My Cincinnati Reds are as spotty as Newman's race team! :)

That's why I am so emotional these days. Been a Newman fan since 2002. Years and years of tee shirts, flags, autographed die cast/hero cards, fan appreciation day appearances. I'm running out of "being good/nice" patience! I want to see Ryan get what he deserves,"A Championship!" But, I'm not naive either. He may never get one?

(Way off topic)I have picked up on your political punches. I like politics but amongst friends. It can lead to people like/disliking you based upon your views. That's immature but it happens! I like Michael Savage out of San Fran. Do I agree with all he says? No, not all! :D

Re: POST MICHIGAN RACE

Tony and Ryan on repaving Mich

SMOOTHING IT OVER: Michigan International Speedway is planning to repave its two-mile trioval during the offseason. Not every driver was thrilled with the news.

''I never like to see them paved,'' Ryan Newman said. ''I love them when they're old and they have character. It's going to be another work in progress for Goodyear to bring in and build a tire for a new race track of this shape and of this caliber.''

Officials say the 43-year-old track's fourth repaving should mean better grip on track and the elimination of a series of bumps on the surface. The $7 million project will begin after the Sprint Cup race in August.

MIS was last repaved in 1995, and Busch offered an example for track officials to follow.

''Homestead, I feel like they did the best when they repaved it,'' he said. ''You could go right to the race track and you could run the bottom, you could move to the middle, you could go to the top. Hopefully they can take a little bit of information from Homestead and do that here.''

Not everyone was concerned about the new surface.

''I'm good with the repaving. I just hope they promise to build us new garages,'' Tony Stewart said. ''This is one of the biggest tracks we go to and Martinsville is the smallest track, but Martinsville has the best garages at a half-mile track.''

---

NICE RIDE: Tony Stewart was still beaming about his ride in Lewis Hamilton's McLaren-Mercedes, but the former IndyCar series champion said he's certain Formula 1 isn't for him.

''I think I can do 100 percent of what I can do, but it's still not 100 percent of what the car can do,'' Stewart said.

Stewart and Hamilton traded cars for a series of laps at Watkins Glen recently. Stewart, who moved to NASCAR over a decade ago, said braking a car about a ton lighter than his everyday ride was the most challenging part of the test.

yeah the misleading part they showed on TV was they were using total times, & Ryan didnt pit the 1st stop when the rest of the field did. Giving him one less pit stop than the rest of the field for a total time.
BTW that was actually a good call by TG, it gave us an extra point for leading (which is the difference from 8th to 10th place) & when he fell back, he was still ahead of where he would have been if he pitted by the timme the next pit stops occurred. Also Blaney got spun out on pit road & TG said would have hit ryans car if he was in his pit stall. So also was lucky not to have pitted. Early on why not take that chance, was only like 7 laps on tires or something like that.

Re: POST MICHIGAN RACE

Tony Stewart is supposed to make an appearance during my Cincinnati Reds/New York Yankees game tonight! I guess he would be talking about the "first time" Kentucky race this year would be my guess? :? I have one of those jobs that has destroyed my Nascar life. I have to work weekends! :x

My Reds gave away yesterdays game....hope tonight is better? :D

Re: POST MICHIGAN RACE

I'm pleased to see Ryan do well at Michigan. I still think it is too early to give the credit to Matt. This is the stuff we have been seeing all year. Good for a while, then it seems they get lost. The first of this year the 39 was on a role, just to fall off on a bad streak of races. Now it seems it is starting to go the 39's way. But what the good fortune should be accredited to, I'm not sure yet.

I'd like to think all the problems have been fixed, but, I don't think they have, especially with the pit crew. Time will tell. I'll sure take these type finishes over mid pack racing any day!

None of us really know as you said? :?

It's been hard on us old fans waiting......waiting for all the positives to appear. I don't enjoy coming on here pounding on my driver or his team support. It gets super old in fact! :?

Nascar want's you to feel your driver can win at any time at any track? How true is that? It's generally the same faces winning week after week and it changes only by some strange fate like a wreck of the better cars. Most Nascar fans know who is going to win at which tracks. But, then you throw in those mysterious Nascar "things that can happen" to call your bluff! :D
