Minor Shake-Up At Stewart/Haas Racing!

Not sure if this means anything but Lee Spencer has reported that Competition Directer Bob Hutchins has stepped down at S/H Racing! So, S/H now has an opening for that position. Not sure who will fill that position? That makes Matt Borland the boss for now! :D

Lee in her video expressed the same thing we all on here have been talking about. Newman's team is in need of some consistency. He's either 5TH or 15TH with nothing in between! One win in three years....not good. Tony's had 6 wins but nothing this year? :)

Matt Borland has been promoted to V.P. of Competition. Congrats Matt! :D

We can only hope this is the beginning of correcting this repulsive downward spiral in both race teams. 8-)

I realize most fans out there don't like all the negative posting going on but racing isn't all about flowers, dandelions and unicorns with rainbows! It's a very competitive sport that waits for "NO ONE" and is result oriented with no excuses. You can only tell your sponsor who just blew 15million sorry so many times until they look elsewhere for their advertising money's worth! ;)

What do you all out there think?

Re: Minor Shake-Up At Stewart/Haas Racing!

I support Tony S. in whatever he decides for SHR. I'm glad to see the shake up. It tells me SHR will not settle for mediocracy. Next, I hope we see a change atop Ryans pit box. Of course, there is a risk, depending on who goes atop, but, it can't get much worse than the last few races for the 39. Going from top 10's to struggling to finish a race is unacceptable.

As bad as the economy is right now, you definitely want to keep the sponsors happy. Sponsors want wins and results, not excuses week after week.

I hope the change that was made will benefit both Ryan and Tony. I can't wait to see the rest of the changes to come.

I'm sure changes are not easy to make for SHR but things have to be done no matter what. I'm sure the past few years things have really been tough for Hutchens with the illness and loss of his wife. His children are young so the man had to be divided on all fronts. Actually his priority right now are those children so a different job would be best. Bobby Hutchens has to do what is best for his family and StewartHass Racing has to do the same. It's not personal it's business...

Thank you to those who took a step forward to save the rest who stand still.

Releasing Bobby Hutchins had to be a very difficult decision for Tony, considering their friendship and Bobby's personal situation. But, I commend Tony for making a tough business call.

Now we'll have to wait and see what the results are of his decision.

I wish Bobby nothing but the best in his future.

There you are HH. Thought you left town? :D

Most folks may not remember but Matt Borland(Newman's crew chief with Penske) left Penske Racing South because he was sick of all the traveling and the long hours. I was shocked! Ryan went "down hill" from there after Matt left. Roy was Newman's second best. ;)

Matt will go over each team with a microscope I'm sure! I'm sure he will point out to Ryan's team how to leave in some leeway in Newman's cars for getting a sensible car balance that can be adjusted through out a race. Tony Gibson's car balances seemed to be either good or just plain bad. Leaving Newman with a dump truck that his team had to perform some kind of magic trick at the end of a race for a top 20 finish!

I did ;) I'm up in Indiana where Dani lives. We'll be flying home on Wednesday.
