Re: Best tony paint schemes

bryce4noles,

First let me say, welcome to the GG (Garage Gang). I do want to let you know that threads have a habit of getting derailed off subject on a regular basis on this website, so please understand it happens even when you try to set up guidelines. I have set them up in the past and after awhile, I gave it up because it was pointless because people had their own stories to share and a lot of them, while it may derail things...can be quite interesting, especially as you watch where things go at times and in most cases it will come back around.

Again, welcome to the GG and by all means post often.

My favorite car Tony has ever driven was a car sponsored by Old Spice. The color was Black Cheery named by the company but it was really a dark burgundy. I saw this very same car here at one of our malls when General Motors brought several new cars to show.

Re: Best tony paint schemes

I also liked the car Tony drove for Rick Hendricks in a Nationwide race. I believe the sponsor was Ritz crackers and the car was a medium blue. I also think Ricks online car dealership was the reason he had the car entered. He said since Tony won the race which was at Daytona it was a tribute to the employees Rick had on the internet and that he would never have the car race again. I can't remember for sure if the car dealership was a sponsor also. But my guess is he kept his word.

It was sponsored by Hendrickcars.com with a number 80 on the side. The #80 represented how many franchises there was.

Re: Best tony paint schemes

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I wasn't sure about the Ritz crackers as that was another race car for Nationwide that was blue that I have mixed up with the Hendrickscars.com #80 car. I remember Rick was quite emotional and it was a thrill for fans when Tony won that race for him. I know I was. I'm not a big fan of HMS but I knew how much it meant to him. Things like that are so cool when they come together.

The best paint scheme was the Coke Zero 400 race on July 3, 2010 when Burger King had the "Sign and Race with Tony". Fans submitted their personal signature online to appear on the hood of his car. I took part in this. It was really neat.

I had forgotten about this. My name is on that car and at one time I knew where it was. But now I'm not always sure where my car is.
