Tony on why he selected Austin......

Tony Stewart on why he chose Austin Dillon to drive his No. 14 at Michigan ->

“I’ve watched Austin for many years and at each stage of his racing career he’s been successful,” Stewart said. “He’s proven to be a very fast learner, and he’s able to adapt quickly. Being the youngest champion in the history of the Truck Series is proof of that. His background in dirt racing is an asset, and off the track we share many of the same interests, specifically, hunting and fishing. I know he’ll perform well at Michigan and I’m just as confident in his ability to properly represent Mobil 1 and Bass Pro Shops throughout the race weekend."

I say.......if it is alright with Tony, then it certainly alright with me! I met Austin about 4 yrs ago, very nice young man! After watching him at Eldora I think he can hold his own.....first time Austin drove Michigan he finished 11 in the # 33 at the beginning of the year.

Glad to hear Tony's thoughts. Hopefully Austin will do a good job for #14 this weekend!

Re: Tony on why he selected Austin......

If it's okay with Tony why not. The top two sponsors okayed it also yesterday according to a report I read. Austin already has Bass Pro Shops as a sponsor so it should be a good fit.

Re: Tony on why he selected Austin......

Congrats to Austin on this opportunity but don't get too comfortable in that #14 car! He should feel real good about Tony picking him to drive his car as Tony certainly knows what he's doing. Although he is starting at the back of the pack..............drive it until you can see some smoke!

I don't know about yours but mine says he'll throw in 2 years worth of dog food AND the dog.

And he has a no return policy.

I saw that little item and I hope things are better for you. I also think the picture was cool. Those beards must be fun in hot weather. ;)

Re: Tony on why he selected Austin......

Well he's doing a good job so far aside from the pit road speeding penalty. (He's in front of Stenhouse and others with a lot more Sprint Cup car time/practice and experience).
