Re: Tony on Sonoma

I am certainly hopeful. A road course is more in the driver's hands than the aero or setup of the car. As long as the power is there.

Tony should do well!

I am also hoping that Tony does well. Don't forget last year even with a torn up car he came back to finish second.

Re: Tony on Sonoma

I prefer Watkins Glen over Sonoma simply for the landscape. It is very pretty at Watkins Glen and Sonoma is sort of plain.

Re: Tony on Sonoma

Watching a road course race on TV is cool....watching it at the track is a whole different animal. LOL

And ... as a nerd... I just wanted to be sure peeps know that the track is called Infinion Raceway .... but was for YEARS, called - SEARS POINT Raceway. Hard for me ( or old timers like Schmoopy ) to call it anything but Sears Pt nowadays, so don't get confused ;-)

Also, it started out as an Indy track and then got converted and used for just about all types of race cars. I've been to 3 Indy races, in the early 90's ... and unless you have an eye in the sky seat ( no jumbo trons, back then ) you saw 10 seconds of action and that was it, until they came back around.

It's my closest track...and I don't like it. :-( I also agree w/NDunn... it is plain around the track w/the ugly brown grass fields. :-( Why can't I live close to a super speedway instead? :-D

Anyways... gripes aside... here's to hoping the SHR gang does well :-)
Smoke 'em if ya got 'em!

Sh*t happens... but don't worry, it usually happens to me.

Re: Tony on Sonoma

I like Sears point the best. Still remember when they used to run the whole track. I think if Watkins Glen would run the boot that track would be awesome. Major braking corner going down hill, would create a lot of action & another spot for passing.

Yep, it'll always be Sears Point for us native Californians... I'm really looking forward to the qualifying!
