Stewart headlines zoo visit:
NASCAR's "Tony the Tiger" will host a special day at the Oakland Zoo. But instead of fast cats, he'll hang out with a friendly elephant.
Two-time Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart will make a special appearance March 24 at the Oakland Zoo, 9777 Golf Links Road, Oakland. During is visit, he'll help elephant manager Jeff Kinzley care for Osh, a six-ton male elephant.
Stewart's appearance promotes the kick-off to Infineon Raceway's Toyota/Save Mart 350, a race Stewart has won twice. This year's race will be June 26 at the Sonoma road course.
Osh also will give Stewart, an animal advocate, the race's official green flag. The event marks the promotional start of this year's Sonoma race, with part of the proceeds benefiting Stewart's foundation. Stewart drives the No. 14 Chevrolet.
During his visit, Stewart will answer questions at a fan forum, scheduled after 1 p.m., at the zoo's Wildlife Theater. Fans may receive a $2 discount off zoo admission that day by mentioning "Infineon Raceway" at the ticket booth.
