Favorite Smoke Moment..

Mine would have to be his first championship, facing all that adversity, in'02. Many others, but that's my favorite! Thoughts? Comments?

Re: Favorite Smoke Moment..

There are so many!

His first win at my home track in Richmond would be the first.

I wish I could remember the year this happened, the track or the races even, but it was one of my most memorable Tony moments.

He was racing in a Busch Series race for Gibbs. About halfway through the race, he came around turn 3 and the back end started spinning out. By the time he got to the middle of turn 4 he had turned into the grass and hit the infield wall.

Of course he was taken to the infield care center and released with no problem. Someone stuck a mic in his face and asked what happened..without skipping a beat he responds:

"Just ran out of talent".

I loved that! Only someone with complete confidence in themselves would have the guts to say that. Some people call him arrogant. I say it depends on which side of the fence you stand on. One persons arrogance is another persons confidence. And I love his!

It's on par with the after crash interview he gave at Talladega. http://www.evilwordsmith.com/talladegainterview-052012/

And of course his comeback, and comeback again at Homestead to win his 3rd Championship title.

Yes! And then there was the "Here Kitty Kitty " at Indy, and who can forget "I'm too old and fat to be climbing fences". '05 Championship was pure dominance, but '11 was perserverance and tenacity!

Re: Favorite Smoke Moment..

This would have to be hard to name just one moment. I have two I cherish for him and his career. One was his first win at Indy. His interview was pure Tony. The tie was his win at Homstead for the race and his 3rd championship. I have a DVD of every second of this race and all the interviews after and I play this quite often. When Tony has a problem I feel bad for him which is odd as I don't know him never met him and I don't worry about what he says or to whom. That is his business. I don't think about his personal life either but the one thing I do follow is his foundation. This is one thing drivers do care about is their fans and what they do for the public. I hope there are tons more moments for us to rave about.

I still laugh at "wreck my mom..." in 2011.

I'll bet his mom probably laughed at that statement and said: " That's my son."

Re: Favorite Smoke Moment..

I would have to say when I met him at the autograph event at the Office Depot before the Fontana race in 2011. He was in a really good mood and VERY flirty.... I could barely talk and had this huge, cheesey smile on my face the whole time. I felt like a dork but SOOO worth it.
Here kitty kitty.. come get you some of this!!

Re: Favorite Smoke Moment..

my favorite moment I dont think Tony fans would like.

When he dove down to the inside late in the 2008 Daytona 500 to try & pick up Kyle as a drafting partner, opening the lead up for Ryan!
