chevy wont give up any pics of the new body probably til next year, even at practice in kansas they are running a checkerboard scheme so ya cant figure out the body, only pics i seen are of the '12 body.

It is strange, how they keep holding out. I heard on Race Hub that a lot of the teams have stopped trying to build their 2013 chevys cause they don't truly know how the body is going to be and it's a waste of money. I hope they get over their power trip or mind games soon or the chevy teams will be playing catch-up next year. You wouldn't think they'd want to hinder them, but that's what it ends up being, at least to me. The chevy SS is a new model, but kind of a weird name to me since that's been a trim level in some models in the past. It will be interesting to finally see it though.

The reveal of the race car with be next month in Vegas. I assume for the Championship week. The reveal of the street car won't be until Speedweeks at Daytona next year. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the pace car of the 500 as well.

I don't understand why chevy is holding this back from the teams. It's going to be a horrible off season for the guys in the shop. Well if the chevys don't do well at the beginning of the year, they have the mother of all excuses.

They're just waiting to reveal it to the fans. The teams already have it and are at work on it. The actual car is being put through its paces in testing at every opportunity, like MJ said with the checkered flag camo paint scheme to hide its lines and stuff as well as possible for the big reveal of the car's aesthetics like the nose decals, etc.

hmmm... That's not what they said on Race Hub. They said they don't have the final body templates so some of the teams have stopped building the cars cause it's a waste of money.

it is true they stopped working on the 2013 car, but because nascar is still making rule changes to the body. So they dont have approved templates for their body yet. So why work on the body if it ends up different.

Ok, I'm convinced they have the 2013 chevy. But I'm still a little concerned that they quit building the cars since the templates haven't been finalized. Besides, it hurts my eyes to see those checkerboard/zebra cars running in circle, er ovals...

The Chevy SS is really a car made by Australia's Holden Automotive. Which is turn, is really GM, an Australian subsidiary of GM.
Here is what the car they are basing the Chevy SS after.. 2013 Holden Commadore.
I heard about this back in June... The 3d modeling site I am a staff member at, who has starting making the 2013 bodies for creating paint schemes for 2013.. have gone back, looked over the pictures that I have given them.. and then compared them to the Zebra Chevy SS.. and the body lines do match this car you see above... so.. enjoy!
