Re: Chin Up Tony

The team has to figure out WHY the #14 didn't re-fire. Tony & Ryan need to understand so that they know how to deal with (or avoid) the problem in the future. EFI is new to these teams so they need to figure this out.

Re: Chin Up Tony

Kenny Wallace (the first driver to have an issue with the EFI) , thinks now NASCAR mist do something about it. Good thing is Tony had a top five car today. Not the way the way he wanted to start the season. Tony is in the top 12 though. I feel good about Vegas for him had that race won last season, Addingtion won it with Kyle in 2009, and Addington from 2008 to 2010 won the pole there.

Re: Chin Up Tony

MRN radio interviewed Booty Barker before the race, he said there are about "50 parts" that can go wrong in the EFI system, which makes it frustrating to fix in a hurry...not sure if he was exaggerating about how many parts but don't think that matters.

and he mentioned how nascar put it (EFI) on fasttrack, which may explain the inconsistency and thus frustration

Re: Chin Up Tony

I know when Fuel Injection was first coming out several years ago my dad hated it. He was considered one of the top mechanics in the Tidewater area of VA at the time. He also always said that when something was new on a vehicle it took a while to get the kinks worked out. I hope Tony's team gets them worked out before anyone else does. Also, I don't know much about it but can you not pop the clutch to restart a car? NASCAR should have left well enough alone until they were sure there would be no issues.

Re: Chin Up Tony

Since Tony is "old School" about all things racing i'll wager he isnt thrilled about this EFI system, especially now.

Nascar needs to put the carburetors back on, forget restrictor plates, take off the rear spoilers and let them "have at it" like way back when racing was great, instead of this "what can we change to screw things up more" attitude by Nascar. 8-)

Re: Chin Up Tony

I would prefer nascar keep the rear spoilers, they kind of help a little......and I remember "the good ole days" when there were 3 cars on the lead lap.

Sounds like there were other cars that had some issues too, here's hoping that NASCAR puts their efforts into figuring this out rather than the 48's c-braces.

"A breaker switch in the system that's there -- I don't understand totally why it's there -- but it kicked off," Addington said. "It doesn't need it when it's running. But when he shut the car off, if you ever shut it off, it won't let the car fire back up."

Tony never was fond of this coming into NASCAR & we all know he's really not fond of it now. Probably not one team out there that likes it.
