This is the most exciting chase there has been in many many years. And I can't think of 2 better ones to be fighting for it. the both are being gentlemen about it, good nature ribbing, and no real trash talk.
We ain't gonna know the winner until the checkered flag drops at Homestead.
I know some might think I am crazy BUT I sure don't want to see Carl Edwards get wrecked out, and would bet good money Tony doesn't either!
I did however laugh win Kurt Bush blew it though, he is always bust on his team and this time he screwed it up.

This is my first year as a race fan and Tony is my pick, but from what I've seen this racing stuff is darn right exciting. I do enjoy the good sportsman like conduct that both Tony and Carl seem to have. And to me this battle reminds me of a good clifhanger: To be continued next week. I'm down to my knuckles in biting, lol. Whichever one wins will definately be a true champion, but I hope Tony plucks the feathers off the duck.

It's a scenerio that we as fans live for. Tony wins, there is nothing Carl can do. Even if Carl leads the most laps, it won't be enough. I feel like it's win or bust for Smoke. I don't see Edwards running outside the top 5 here, unless he has some sort of a problem. So in my mind, and I'm sure it's the same in Tony's, anything less then a win at Homestead won't get the job done. So it's balls to the wall next Sunday.

Average finish at Homestead:
Kevin - 3.00
Jimmie - 3.50
Carl - 4.00
Smoke - 15.00
The 14 team had better get it together this week!!!

GO SMOKE!!! Championship 2011

As of both practices.. it is not looking all too good for Tony today. If those practices were any indication of is to come for the race tomorrow.. I think Carl just might have the field covered! That is bad news for Smoke fans...I would have figured that he would have gotten the best motor from Hendrick this weekend to meet or beat Roush FR-9 horsepower....

Carl gets pole, Smoke Starts 15th.. this is not good already! I still have faith, but right now, Carl has the upper hand already! It feels like getting shot in the rear end! It hurts! I don't want Carl to get a chance to lead most laps... because if he does..it is over. Even if Tony was to win it. Sucks!

Yep, that's the only thing that worries me about Carl getting the pole. Someone's got to get in front of him pretty quickly so he doesn't lead the most laps. I don't care who it is but, someone's got to do it. Of course, I'd like to see him finish out of the top 5. Should be an exciting race. His pole position even makes it more exciting. Besides, being behind Carl, Smoke can make adjustments re. pitting, etc. based on what Carl does. I'm not worried. I think Tony's got this one.

You guys need to calm down. There was 2 practices today. One at 9.30 am and happy hour at 3.00 pm. In the 1st practice, Carl made 2 qualifying runs and two runs of 15+ laps. Tony ran one qualifying run and 3 runs of 15+ laps. In Happy Hour Tony made 3 LONG green flag runs, Carl ran just 3 laps in qualifying trim. So yes, Carl got a great pole run and 1st spot on pit road, but his entire practice in race trim was done in the AM practice. Also, on runs of 15+ laps or more, Carl's car fell off the pace BIG TIME. He wasn't even in the top 15 when it came to runs of 15 laps or longer. Tony however was 8th best. So Carl made no race runs in happy hour, which will closely match race conditions and had a big falloff on long green flag runs. I think Tony has gotten to the 99 team. For the last 3 weeks, the 14 team has openly stated it has focused on qualifying. I think the 99 team was threatened by that and put too much focus on qualifying this week. Yes, they got what they wanted in pole position, but at what cost?
