They seem to but people do buy them. I want to know how people get there hands on prototype I'd love to have a rare one I got a couple that people think are rare but just don't know about them.

Re: came across diecast

im not sure if you get a membership from lionel racing and maybe luck into getting a proto, im just guessing, i got a giggle when the DIN # matched the car #

i know others collect diecast here, maybe they will stumble upon this thread and have a better answer for you as far as the prototypes go...

Re: came across diecast

I would think that having the first or last car would be cool too, especially since you got Tony to sign it, many collectors say the DIN # means nothing, if that was the case, why put it on? i never got the first or last, thats pretty neat.

Re: came across diecast

I think din # mean nothing if you don't get a good one lol. People get good dins first, last and door # and instantly triple the price to sell it I've seen a lot. I agree with you on having the din that's a lot of the appeal of having elites see what number you get. How many cars do you have? Who do you collect?

Re: came across diecast

i once had 300 plus cars, it consisted of JJ, Gordon, Newman,Stewart and Chase Elliot, but i sold most of them or gave to the goodwill because i plan on moving soon. I would love getting the elites especially when they had a small production run, i had a few low numbered Tony cars that fetched a good price on ebay, how big is your collection? do you mainly focus on Tony?

Re: came across diecast

I've got about 100 they are mostly Tony but I've start to get other drivers now. I've gotten to be more picky on cars I want I'm now looking for a Jimmie first auto club win that was the first race I ever attended and a Kevin harvick auto club win I was in victory lane for that race but they have proven to be to high. The price pretty much lets me know what I can buy.

Re: came across diecast

its pretty cool to get the winning car of the race you attended, when i do go to a race it would usually be Dover, and i try to get the car when JJ wins, i may have his first win car, i would have to do some serious looking and if you want id sell it to ya cheap.... im not into making big bucks for the cars, outside of the one Tony signed for you, do you have any other favorites?
