Thanks beaver. At least it doesn't sound like we'll get dumped on with a lot of snow or ice then. I think the hubby insulated the water pipes in the laundry room (& the same area there for the outside water) after we had the pipe bust for some reason.....in warm weather. I hate cold weather, but it's better than snow & ice.

I don't know what's so good about it. I lost the transmission in the van
yesterday and it's costing me $2500.00 for a new one. Oh well, occupational hazard I guess.
50* and going to 77* before the days over. I just wish we were working out side instead of in.

Mornin gang, YIKE'S $2500 for a tran's!!!!!!!

Better than purchase a new or used vehicle if money's tight. I would like to keep my vehicle I drive, it's a 98. It's all wheel positive traction & also 4 wheel drive. I love that feature in the snow & ice. Hubby doesn't want to fix what I have, he wants a cheap piece of crap instead & a large suburban for his race car hauler. But that's just too expensive of a hobby & it's not worth it for a piddly once in a while deal he never makes money at. Needs to quit all together.

Whether it be FWD, RWD, AWD, or 4WD...nothing is good on ice. The only place to be is inside off the roads.

I have driven everything except AWD in all types of weather and ice storms are the worst...although trying to outrun a tornado ranks right up there. What I have learned over the years is that sometimes it is better to stay put...even if it means staying at work until the storm passes and the roads are cleared and then taking the long way home just because they are main roads. There have been times when I have had to work for 36 hours because of storms. Now that that part of my life is over, there is no way you could ever make me go back and do that type of work again.

True, if all wheels are on ice, you just have to go with what happens. But if I had my choice, I'd stay with a vehicle all wheel drive with 4 wheel on & off road option. I get around so much better. Not saying I do the speed limit in bad weather when I have better traction, I just feel safer in my travels when I have to be out.

The next 10 day forecast doesn't list a day that gets 80 or warmer. 79 is the warmest day & that's the be Sun. I think the weather is trying to say it's not summer any more. But the 1st day of fall isn't until 9/22. But warm but not hot is just fine. Tues is the coolest day at 69 with 30% isolated showers.
