It's a chilly 32* here in Fayetteville, NC. S'posed to be clear skies and a hi of 55* today. Thought I was going to get the week off, but something came up and I got sent down here. At least I'm working. That's the bright side.

I thought Southern North Carolina was supposed to be warmer this time of year. Heck, it's warmer at my house in central Virginy. But it could be worse. I see Beaver is still in the deep freeze. Moose Pond must still be froze over.

Today is gonna be a reall nice day for here, high of 68* But windy, gusts up to 40 MPH. Still warmer than usual though.
Tomorrow the rains come & will be a high of 57* & windy

Currently it's 49* with a wind chill of 43* at 6:34 AM

Yawn, better get the coffee going.

It was 11* this morning when I got up...better than yesterday with a temp of -3*.

All the lakes and ponds are still frozen over for the moment, but there are some thin spots.

"thin spots"......that's one time it can be used in a good way
(instead of thinning as in going bald)

Not always, sometimes people learn the hard way with thin ice and sometimes with deadly consequences. We are due for a warm up of temps in the 50s the next three days during the day and lows in the 20s at night.

These temps are actually great for the maple syrup industry.

I got this in an E-Mail this morning and thought I would share. Tried to find the Laugh thread, but didn't find it.

Gun Control
Barack Obama at a recent rural elementary school assembly in East Texas , asked the audience for total quiet. Then, in the silence, he started to slowly clap his hands once every few seconds, holding the audience in total silence.

Then he said into the microphone, 'Children, every time I clap my hands together, a child in America dies from gun violence.'

Then, little Darrell, with a proud East Texas drawl, pierced the quiet and said:
"Well, dumbass, stop clapping!"

It's going to be a beautiful day today in Fayetteville, NC. mid 70's and mostly sunny skies. Temps right now in the mid 50's
