Watch The Sky During The Daytona Duels

A Delta 4 rocket carrying a GPS payload will be launched from Cape Canaveral on Feb. 20, between 8:40-8:59PM. The timing puts it while the Daytona Duels are in progress. Wonder if FS1 will point any of their cameras that way, if only just briefly.

Re: Watch The Sky During The Daytona Duels

That's pretty cool! Are the Duels going to be run at night now?

I remember as a kid being able to see the Apollo rockets launch. And I was all the way over in St. Petersburg!

Re: Watch The Sky During The Daytona Duels

Thunderbirds to perform flyovers at Daytona 500 and Las Vegas: The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds have finalized their 2014 show schedule. In its 61st season, the team is slated to perform 66 demonstrations at 34 locations. The flying unit, officially known as the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, will perform its first public flyover of 2014 at the opening of the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif., on Jan. 1. Two of the shows include the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on Feb 23, 2014 and at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 9, 2014. The announcement of the schedule confirms the Defense Departments commitment to supporting community engagement. Last October, in an internal memo to military service chiefs, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel stressed a continuing need to maintain military demonstration teams. Charged with demonstrating the professionalism of Airmen and the capabilities of modern airpower, the Thunderbirds were formed in 1953. The 2014 season marks the 32nd year the squadron has performed in the F-16 Fighting Falcon.(U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds)(12-10-2013)

I know this is not the Deuls, but this should get the 500 off to a good start! Good to see them back performing again....they put on such a good show!
