Radar Tornado Warning, Indiana 2:05 PM 3/23/11

Wed Mar 23, 2011 2:06 pm

Radar indicated tornado warning in the southern part of Rushville, Indiana & northern part of Greensburg Storm moving east at 40 MPH.
It should miss me here, would be about 20 mins away if it doesn't shift a little north east as it goes.

The bad weather missed us completely. Tornadoes today, snow tomorrow. They say if you don't like the weather in Indiana today, stick around, it'll change.

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come this summer. I could be a bad one.

People would think that Maine never sees those things up here. Not true. Our area of the state sees about 6 to 8 tornados a year. It is about the only part of the state that does see them. Last year was unusual though and they branched out into other areas of the state for the first time in decades.

About 70 yesterday & the bad weather stayed away. It almost reached here at the house, but then it started breaking up real fast by the time it was on top of us. We got some rain & heard thunder about 3 different times, but nothing bad at least.

Now this morn we have wee little tiny snow flurries falling & nothing is showing up on radar.

For the few years I was living & working in Salt Lake City, I had to get used to a new term from the TV weather forecasters - "thunder snow".  WTH?!?
