And the winless Rays lose Manny Ramirez
to "retirement" (yeah, right). What a joke that signing turned out to be.

"Manny Being Manny" right to the end. At least maybe we're done with that stupid phrase.

Cliff Lee didn't look so tough tonight.
In all seriousness, as big a Braves fan I am and as much as I love seeing an offensive outburst like that, especially in the home opener and ESPECIALLY against the Phillies, it is kind of jarring to see a guy who is supposed to be so great struggle so badly. Only 3 1/3 innings, ten hits, six runs.
Tim Hudson meanwhile struggled early and before settling down, but it was still a comedy of errors. First you have about four line-drive comebackers that about took his head off every time. Then he strikes out TWICE trying to bunt. Then HE about takes his head off, conking himself in the back of the noggin on his follow through to a swing. Then he just about falls flat on his face trying to field a little dribbler in front of the mound. All in all only gave up the three runs the Phillies got in the first two innings, one of those was because of an error by Alex Gonzalez, but it was a #### of a lot more interesting and entertaining night than his box line could ever illustrate, hahaha.
Finally, congratulations to my all-time baseball hero. Chipper Jones recorded his 2500th hit tonight. His 2499th came one at bat earlier, he doubled with the bases loaded, that's where the 6-3 lead came from. Held all the way to the end.

Yippee... the Rays finally win one... over the White Sox.

well the red sox took 2 of 3 from the yankees, its always nice to see a team with a 300 million dollar payroll lose, i dont think abner doubleday had that in mind when he invented the game,
as for the sox they got beat by the ray last nite, i know this will make HH feel good, final score rays 16- sox 5,
the other big series of the weekend, phils took 2 of 3 from the braves, something tells me that division will go down to the last week of the season,
the indians are off to a 8-2 start
the reds have a 2 game lead over the cubs
rangers are off to a quick start at 9-1, well thats the update for this week

Even the Rays beat up on Boston yesterday, 16-5.
But not to worry, soon they will be back to their losing ways.

well for one day, you can have a smile, who knows maybe this is what they needed to get a jump start.
Tue Apr 12, 2011 1:29 pm
Yeah, I think 1 day is about all I'm going to get.
I don't see this being a good year for them.
Tue Apr 12, 2011 3:53 pm
i wouldnt be surprised that they play better cuz manny is gone..........
Tue Apr 12, 2011 7:15 pm
You could be right about Manny, but I still think the Rays are going to struggle this year. They lost too many good players. They are in a "rebuilding" phase ( a much over-used term IMO).

your probably right, and it stinks baseball has bow down to the whole dollar thing, me personally albert pujols is not worth 300 million dollars, no one is, but even tho the cards have not caved in, thee yankees will pay it, cuz that is the only way they know how to win, wait they spent over 2 billion in salary over the last 10 years and only won once, maybe they arent that smart, just dumb with money.

I wonder how much, if anything, will change in the Yankees' front office now that George is gone?!?

i have heard that hank s wants keep spending money, he also wants to stop sharing the tv contract, so he can go after big name players, and he even said "if smaller market teams cant keep and fold, that is their problem, not mine, so i do laugh when they spend all that money, only to lose.
