According to a Tuesday report from ESPN.com, NASCAR may be thinking of adding a dirt race at Eldora Speedway to the Camping World Truck Series schedule.

I'll believe that when I see it.
But that would be frickin' Awesome if they did do that! (just not gonna hold my breath)

I find it hard to believe. I think it's just something to drum up an article to write about myself.
I can't see NASCAR having a truck race on dirt, they already had the Lincoln Weilder ARCA trucks on dirt one year for the Prelude. We lost a friend of one of the drivers after we talked him into racing there when he said he wasn't going to, his truck over heated & he has had lots of issues with engines & funding. We haven't heard from him or his wife since. He since has quit racing & has a youngster who races part of the season for him.

Wouldn't a dirt track cause truck teams to have to come up with a completely different setup? Engine, transmission, the entire package. I would think team owners wouldn't want to invest the fabrication of a truck for just one race a year.

DIfferent set up & a way to keep the dirt out so it doesn't over heat the engine like our friend's did & get knocked out of the race.
What should have happened was them old IROC cars should have been saved & converted over & used IF NASCAR really was looking at a race on dirt. Use the car on those converted over cars on the dirt instead of the trucks yet still collect points for the truck as if they raced the truck.
But then, would the places have enough seating for everyone who'd want to attend & what would they charge & how many laps would they race & how to handle pit stops ........if they made the race that long

The trucks are not anywhere ready to run dirt. As cool as this would be it just to impracticable.

Mike Helton was on "Wind Tunnel" this past Sunday, and when Dave Despain asked him about this, Helton's response was, and I quote, "Stay tuned." Interesting.....

Heard an announcement will be made shortly that the trucks will run at Eldora next year.

Jayski reporting the same, although they're questioning the fact that Eldora doesn't have SAFER barriers and a "fixed" (permanent) care center. Jayski also says RCR might have someone testing there this week???

I'd like to go being only 60 some miles away from me. But we're short on cash which we haven't been in years. Christmas is gonna be very slim, something we're not use to. We've always been blessed with providing nice things for family, but it can't happen this year. This will effect us where we can't go to this historical race at Eldora now & we won't be able to attend KY's Cup race unless we can bump into some money somehow.
If we could attend, it would be a hassle since the race is on a Wednesday in July. Getting into that traffic makes it a 2 hr+ drive to get back home & the hubby has to work the next day.
