Re: Hockey 2012-2013

my satellite system broke down on Friday night. I missed games 5 & 6.
We are surrounded by windmills the size of skyscrapers, so regular channels over the air don't come in either.

Happier than all get out that the Hawks won, the Bruins could've won it as well. It was an extremely close matchup.

he said "over air channels" I think that means the digital broadcast signals of NBC, ABC, FOX, CBS, etc, not satelite signal. My guess is the over air broadcast signal is disrupted by constantly bouncing off the turning blades of the windmills. The satelite system being broken for other reasons.

Satelite signal coming down from space, as long as the windmill blades do not get between the dish and satelite shouldn't be affected. I can't see how signals being sent through a cable line could possibly be affected.

Re: Hockey 2012-2013

satellite went out because it's DirecTV and it's very sensitive to raindrops and breezes, but a lightning bolt struck pretty close shaking the house, and thus sending our DirecTV supplied refurbished system into constant confusion (we've already replaced the box in our room last year, now the living room box won't work).

Before all these windmills were activated, we could get Chicago stations. Now, no one around here can get stations over the air. So if you want local channels, you have to subscribe to something. We live in the country, so we get 2 choices...dishnetwork or DirecTV...and when they go out, you get nothing.

The windmills are so tall, and there are so many of them, that they actually show up as a storm system on the weather radar.

Agreed..just a great series.
Have to say, when Chicago went down 3-1 to LA, I wasn't feelin' it. But when they won game 5, I thought they had a decent shot to get to the finals since they figured out how to deal with their physical play.

Wow, that's crazy. We drove from DC to South Bend IN last summer. I saw those huge windmills in either PA or Ohio...I think it was Ohio. They are pretty massive. I wonder if they ever researched to see if it would mess up frequency signals.

when i got mine 13 years ago, they said whenever it rains in the south, you wont get a signal... then when a tad of snow lays on the disk, forget about it, thankfully its attched to my deck and i can wipe it off with no problems, DT sucks, they always hike up the bills, still cheaper than cable, im thinking of getting a smart tv and hook it up to the net, get nexflix for 8 bucks, and hulu plus for 10...

It didn't take long for everyone to get back to the grindstone...trades, draft picks, etc.

Re: Hockey 2012-2013

At least the Wild picked up Matt Cooke, woulda' liked to see the Caps get him...or ANYONE really, instead of just losing players(Ribero, Hendricks). H*ll, there was Cooke, Ryder, Lapierre, Filppula, Clowe, Stalberg, Kennedy...not to mention D men Rozsival, Hannan, Ference, Scuderi, Komisarek...but, the Caps...zero, nuthin', nada...they need to get rid of GMGM(General Manager George McPhee) he's killin' the team. :|
