Rare Solar Eclipse Sunday

On Sunday the sun is going to turn into a ring of fire. It's an annular solar eclipse, the first one in the United States in almost 18 years.

For places such Medford, Oregon; Chico, California; Reno, Nevada; St. George, Utah; Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Lubbock, Texas; the afternoon sun will become a luminous ring.

The “path of annularity” is a strip about 185 miles wide and thousands of miles long. It stretches from China and Japan, across the Pacific Ocean, to the middle of North America.

Great more fire in NM...

It's happening! It's happening!

The local news showed people how to make a shadow box, to view it safely.

It worked and we can see it starting! Total eclipse at 6:32 pm or in about 20 minutes.

I'll be back to tell yall what the sky looked like!

That was awesome

Well... it came and went. Un-beee-leaveable, if you're a star gazer, to actually see it.

At first, in mid California, the sky was as usual lighting... but then around 630 pm, it changed to a real weird color... can't even describe it, but it definitely got "darker."

Me & my nephew watched it happen 'live' thru the shadow box.

"I" did manage to get pics of the moon in the sun... something the local news people said no one had done yet.

OK... OK... I only got it because I was the only dumb one to try! LOL

I did that thing where you hold the camera up, without looking at subject, and clicked away.
Some people said you would ruin your camera if you tried.. but it still works fine
