TALLADEGA, Ala. -- NASCAR driver Eric McClure is stable and alert at a Birmingham hospital after an accident Saturday night at Talladega Superspeedway.
Team spokeswoman Emily Brandt said Sunday that McClure remained under observation at UAB Hospital, where he was undergoing tests.
His wife, Miranda, posted on McClure's Facebook page that the family is "so thankful that he survived. It is nothing short of a miracle that he was not hurt more than he is."
Miranda McClure said they're hoping he will be released some time on Sunday.
McClure was taken to the hospital by helicopter after an accident Saturday in a Nationwide Series race. The multicar accident involving McClure's No. 14 Toyota brought out a 19-minute red flag. Joey Logano won the race.

Eric McClure released from Alabama hospital
The Associated Press
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) NASCAR driver Eric McClure has been released from an Alabama hospital on Monday, two days after he was injured in a crash at Talladega Superspeedway.
McClure was airflifted to UAB Medical Center in Birmingham following Saturday's crash in the Nationwide Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.
His team said Monday that McClure suffered a concussion and internal bruising in the accident. A statement says he's expected to make a full recovery, but will visit with specialists this week regarding his injuries.
McClure will hold a press conference on Friday at Darlington Raceway.

McClure eager to get back to racing after wreck
By JENNA FRYER | The Associated Press - May 11, 2012
DARLINGTON, S.C. (AP) Eric McClure says he remembers only bits and pieces of his accident at Talladega, but knows he had lost his brakes before the impact.
McClure suffered a concussion and internal bruising in the accident in the Nationwide Series race on Saturday. He says he believed he was headed toward his first career top-10 when the accident began in front of him.
McClure was then hit by another car, and heading toward the inside wall, he says he ''went to hit the brake pedal and the brakes were not there.''
McClure was airlifted to an Alabama hospital, where he spent two nights with a concussion and internal bruising. He will not race Friday night at Darlington Raceway and has been replaced by Jeff Green in the car.

Re: ERIC MCLURE
It was awesome to see the interview with him. It could have been a lot worse, but it was still pretty bad compared to a lot of the crashes you see lately. Maybe there are still some improvements that need to be made. I'm just glad he's doing so well.
