The Times They Are A Changin'

Was looking for a new "boombox" for my shop so I can play my favorite cd's while working....had horrible luck finding one

Pretty sad when it's easier to find a record player than it is a cd player.

I stopped downloading music a long time ago, because frankly, it's more fun buying an album. I used to love going to a record store going through albums to pick one out. I'd take it home, open it up and start listening while reading every word of the insert.

The age of hard copy music is over. I was at Wal Mart and they are trying to fire-sale the rest of their cd's. I found some good ones in there for $5 a piece. Several Ozzy albums (Ozzmosis) Tom Petty (Full Moon Fever), various KISS albums, REO Speedwagon albums, and various country artist's albums to name a few.

The only ones making albums nowadays are the current favorite flavors, and most of those artists suck. Sure you can find some cd's from great bands, but they are mainly greatest hits albums.

jamo, do you have a 1/2 Price Books by you? You can find a lot of CD's there. They have quite a few stores but I don't know about your area. For new stuff I have my iPod but sometimes I'll burn a CD from my library so I can listen to it in my car. My car is older so I can't connect my iPod.

Re: The Times They Are A Changin'

I took all my favorite songs and saved onto my computer so I can listen to them whenever I want and then I burned them to several disks that I keep in the car and can pop them in the cd player whenever I want. I can also do this for wherever I am whether it is in the garage or in the barn.

Re: The Times They Are A Changin'

hee hee hee... just think.... I get teased when I whip out the old boombox that has radio, a cassette tape and cd player! Ha ha ha ha :-) (( Everyone looks at it and exclaims "A CASSETTE player ? ! " LOL ))

Sorry you can't find one Jamo :-(

Don't give up looking - ck 2nd hand stores, pawn stores and garage/yard sales! :-)

But... you know what they say....

The Times They Are A-Changin'

Come gather ’round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You’ll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth savin’
Then you better start swimmin’ or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won’t come again
And don’t speak too soon
For the wheel’s still in spin
And there’s no tellin’ who that it’s namin’
For the loser now will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin’

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don’t stand in the doorway
Don’t block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There’s a battle outside and it is ragin’
It’ll soon shake your windows and rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don’t criticize
What you can’t understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is rapidly agin’
Please get out of the new one if you can’t lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin’

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is rapidly fadin’
And the first one now will later be last
For the times they are a-changin’
Smoke 'em if ya got 'em!

Sh*t happens... but don't worry, it usually happens to me.

Re: The Times They Are A Changin'

GET WIT' DA' TIMES OLD MAN!!!!

Actually, there's a bit of a "cult" resurgence with those...I read an article a few months back, somewhere? Kids are carryin' those around again...go figure? :? 8-)

I, personally, like mp3's better. Where else can you fit 1,000's of songs into somethin' smaller than youe wallet? But, I realize everyone has their own preferences.

Anyway, where ya' lookin'? I went online to Best Buy and they have several...some even have casette players, Smokie. ;)

I dunno' if you shop online, but below is a link to Amazon...they have several. Even if you don't shop online...you know they're still out there...

Re: The Times They Are A Changin'

I sold my boom box on eBay several months ago. Didn't have a CD player... it had dual cassette decks for high speed tape dubbing. Oooooooooooooo ROFL

Re: The Times They Are A Changin'

I got one of them duel cassette boom boxes too. It has a good sound. Can detach the speakers if I want. I don't hardly ever use it, but it still sounds good.
