I know, in a division with the super successful Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens and before the realignment the Houston Oilers. Why am I stuck with such a hopeless pro football team? I guess I'm one of those weird Americans that chooses a team and sticks with them forever. Just like my Nascar! I don't go with the "flavor of the month" like many do. To me that's joining "the band wagon" and afraid of commitment. Only wanting to represent the most popular of "what ever?" Anybody can do that. I honor those who stick by their choice and never stray.
It only makes sense to me living in Ohio to be a fan of a team that's not far to drive to live games. Is featured on local radio and represents my home state.
My team has been in the news mainly for all the wrong reasons. Countless Bengals players getting arrested for this that and the other. The Bengals owner Mike Brown is well-known for being an idiot as far as putting together a WINNING pro football team. Yes, the Bengals lost the Super Bowl in 1982 and again in 1988 both to the 49RS! Then Paul Brown the founder of my Bengals dies in 1990 and leaves the team to his kids.......that was the beginning of the end!
The Bengals were noted as the "worst team in pro football" for the 90's decade. Hum, Paul dies taking us to two Super Bowls in 1990 and his kids take over in 1991 and NO Super Bowl appearances since......what's that tell you?
Now, things have gotten so bad that our QB Carson Palmer(2004-2010) would rather retire than play another snap. How low can you go is the question?
This coming 2011 season will be full of mystery. We have drafted a new QB who looks awesome. We have a new offensive coordinator who is the brother of John Gruden(native Ohioan). We got a lot of great college draft picks. Who knows?
Even with all the turmoil I will always be a Cincinnati Bengal's fan. They are in my blood. Do I respect their owner? NO WAY!
You guys ready for this year?
