I've known some step fathers who were better fathers than the bio-fathers.

Re: Fathers Day

A True Story of Three Brothers Who Became Dads

Once upon a time, three brothers who were born in the Depression. They were dirt poor. They carried baked potatoes in their pockets in the winter, to keep their hands warm and to eat for lunch. They were laughed at.

As they grew into men …

One brother went into sales. He rose to the top quickly and became very rich and successful. He finally had everything he ever wanted to buy.

One brother went into law enforcement and quickly rose to the top. He was very respected in his field and became a whole state’s “Go-To-Guy” for information.

One brother never really found a career. He seemed to bounce from one job to another.

All three brothers had families with kids.

The salesman brother could hardly ever be found… and certainly not at home, sitting around. No, he took full advantage of all his wealth and toys and enjoyed his life.

The law enforcement brother was hardly at home either, as duty always called. Emergency calls took him away from graduations, vacations and family meals.

The non-career brother had family dinners and required all kids to attend. Even when those kids had their own kids, the family meals still continued.

When the salesman brother died, basically… nobody cared or showed up for the most minimalist service. He had alienated everyone and separated himself from his family, choosing his wealth over them. In the end, no one cared about him, not even the company he worked for, or his wealth and it all went to the state.

When the law enforcement brother died…. The law enforcement sent a very small wreath, smaller than a dinner plate. For all he had put into his career,,,, for all he had forsaken for it… that was all he got in the end.

The non-career brother is still alive. When he dies, somebody better rent out a stadium to hold all the people, he has touched, within his life. He never had money or wealth… he never had professional clout or respect… but he always had his family.

When we enter Heaven, we go alone, naked and with nothing but what’s in our heart and life.
