They tested tapered spacers like what the Nationwide and Camping World Truck vehicles use on Wednesday, we'll find out what they decided on that front when the rules are unveiled next week. Lots of folks - myself included - like the idea since it would bring the field closer together and hopefully promote better racing. Flip-side is that slowing them too
much where they don't have enough horsepower to pass one another could cause the mother of all snoozers (see Loudon, September 2000, the ultimate lesson in knee-jerk reactions. A postponement would have been a better idea with the way things turned out, unless you're a Jeff Burton fan). As long as it isn't such a dramatic dip, it seems a good idea.
That being said, if they decide to keep things as they are and let everyone just go as fast as they possibly can (Daytona and Talladega aside, obviously), then I'm fine with that too I guess. What I'd really like to see would be for them to take computers out of it and make the cars more simplified to where speed is achieved by a driver's ability, not by a computer. That wouldn't match up with the street cars of today though so it is not an option, but I wish it was.
